What is Web Profile Image?

Web Profile Image is a SharePoint 2013 application that enables SharePoint users to choose an image directly from the internet as the profile photo for their SharePoint account.

You can choose from the following options:

SharePoint Default Image
Gravatar¹
Facebook²
Google Plus²
Custom Image³
More social profile options will be added soon.

How do I use Web Profile Image?

Before you can start easily setting your profile photo from internet locations, Web Profile Image needs to be installed on your SharePoint Site.

From your SharePoint Site, launch the Web Profile Image application.
Choose an image that you want to be your SharePoint profile image.
Click on the "Set Profile Image" button.

1. Gravatar is a service that identifies a users photo based on an email address. We use the primary email address of your SharePoint account to identify a Gravatar image to use.
2. This option requires authentication to third party site. Only the primary profile image of the account authenticated by the third party can be used.
3. The Custom Image option can only be used for urls that are publicly accessible.
